Questions

FAQ

Do my customers need an app?

No. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet are built into every iPhone and almost every Android phone. Your customer taps one button and the appointment is saved.

Do I need a paid third-party service?

No. Pass generation runs entirely on your server. You do need an Apple Developer Program membership (US$99/year, paid to Apple) for the Apple signing certificate, and a free Google Cloud project for Google Wallet.

See the full setup guide for step-by-step Apple and Google Wallet instructions.

Is any customer data sent to you or to Blue Brain Media?

No. Nothing is sent to us — there is no account with Blue Brain Media and no server of ours anywhere in the path. Apple passes are built and signed entirely on your own site. Google passes are created in your own Google Wallet account, which means the service, the provider, the date and time, the location, the booking reference and the customer’s name go to Google in order to make the pass.

What happens if my licence lapses?

Passes keep generating exactly as before. You stop receiving plugin updates and support until you renew — nothing breaks.

Which Amelia setup does this work with?

Amelia on WordPress 6.5 or newer, running PHP 8.1 or newer. Tested against Amelia 9.9. Appointment passes work on every Amelia tier, including the free one; event passes need a version of Amelia that offers events.

Is there a free version?

Yes. Wallet Pass for Amelia is free on WordPress.org — Google Wallet passes for appointments, the same self-hosted approach, no licence. Apple Wallet, Amelia’s events and email support are in the paid edition.

Do Apple Wallet passes update when an appointment changes?

Not in this release, and it is worth knowing before you buy. Google Wallet passes update themselves on the customer’s phone when an appointment moves or is cancelled. Apple’s equivalent needs Apple’s push service, which this release does not include, so the confirmation and cancellation emails tell the customer to open their pass link again — one tap, and the pass is rebuilt from the current booking.

Give your customers their appointment — or their ticket — where they’ll look for it
